SmartBro Prepaid Kit is Not So Good in Siaton

Siaton is not a highly-urbanized municipality even if it is in the middle of two progressive cities; Bayawan and Dumaguete City. And so, cable internet is nowhere to be found in Siaton. In fact, there are only four internet cafes inside the town which use SmartBro as their ISP. And to tell you, the connection is really slow, maybe because there are so many computers sharing with almost 1 mbps download speed. So, if ever you are in Siaton, try to look for the cafe with few computers to be able to experience, at least, a little faster connection. As for me, I prefer to log in LAM Internet cafe along the national highway because it only has three computers and only two are functioning so well.
However, when I won’t go to any internet cafe in town, I just use my own SmartBro Prepaid kit to connect to the internet. To be honest, I am not really satisfied with the performance as well as with connection. I understand that I should not expect a connection like that of cable ISP, however, SmartBro Prepaid Kit is really very slow that even a single message cannot be sent across using Yahoo! Messenger. That is true! I remember one instance that someone tried to invite me using YM, I received the invitation and accepted it but due to so much latency in the connection, the other party who invited me still sees on his end that I wasn’t able to accept his invitation even if I already did.
I am not trying to destroy the reputation of SmartBro as it is the first ISP to offer a prepaid internet, but my point is that if you are thinking of purchasing SmartBro Prepaid kit and living in a place like Siaton, you better think twice. It could just be a waste of money.
Of course SmartBro is faster when you are near their tower because the prepaid kit uses the frequency which the mobile phones use. In fact, SmartBro Prepaid kit is a mobile connector and uses SIM card to be able to connect to their network. In short, it is just a cell phone. So if you have a very low signal in your place, you better go to a cafe if ever you want to connect to the internet.
Siaton is definitely a better place to live; peaceful, clean, fresh air. But when it comes to internet connection and other technologies, Siaton has a little to offer. The good thing is, Siaton is progressing and in the years to come would become a city. Maybe if that time comes, internet connection will improve. I just hope so!
