One of the most important priorities and concerns of the Municipal Government of Siaton is EDUCATION. This is one of the best ways to promote tourism in the entire place. Evidently, most of the local units (also known as barangay), have their own primary schools. Each of these schools is constantly monitored and supported by the Department of Education. The municipality gives two options of which school type to enroll in: the Private and the Public Institutions. As the population grows bigger, additional local schools are established to balance the needs of the place. Here are the details of each educational institution.

Private School: Carmel High School (CHS)

- The only Private Catholic Secondary School in Siaton, led by the Parish Priest

- Is administered by the religious sectors – Diocese of Dumaguete. Previously, Carmel High School was managed by respective nuns known as the Carmelite Sisters. Recently, there was an agreement that the administration is turned over to the priests of the Diocese of Dumaguete.

- The school would accept both youth genders (male/female). Excellent quality education is catered to the students as they continue to keep track on the vision and mission, this Catholic School has. Thus, providing the students a good morale and quality education (all in one).

Public Schools:Negros Oriental State University of Siaton

- Previously known as Siaton Community College or SCC.

- The municipality’s first and genuine community college that provides and equipped the local students with the knowledge they need to face the real world.

Previously, the school only has 2 major courses offered to the students: Bachelor of Science in Education for students aspiring to become teachers and Bachelor of Science in Commerce for business. That was when it was still widely known as Siaton Community College or SCC.

Recently, as mandated by the National Government of President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo’s term, SCC becomes an affiliate of Central Visayas Polytechnic College, which is now the Negros Oriental State University _ NORSU Dumaguete (the main campus).

As years goes by, the schools population constantly increases and the numbers of local graduates landed on a fulfilling stable jobs.

Recently, the local university already offers additional courses to choose from.

SECONDARY PUBLIC SCHOOLS

Aside from a College Degree, NORSU Siaton also caters a secondary level education or high school. It was Siaton Community High School before, now known as Siaton National High School. Siaton National High School is one of the most popular secondary schools in the entire municipality of Siaton. Almost all the elementary graduates from each barangay pursue their high school level at SNHS. Others take the other option and choose to enroll at the private institution, theCarmel High School. Apparently, the majority is at Siaton National High School and some other public high school institutions in some barangays. At SNHS, students are molded academically and socially. Students are known to be very active in participating on the town’s major events specially during the town fiesta celebration. This is also one good thing the local students have ,that is taking and doing their part for the success of the entire community. Not only in college or high school but also in the elementary levels.

Other Public High Schools of Siaton are the Bonawon which is Maria Macahig Memorial High School, the Bonbonon High School at Bonbonon, Siaton and recently the Maloh High School at Maloh, Siaton.
