Writing Good Contents in Three Words
As a blogger who makes money online, how can you describe your art of writing in just three words?
Writing content for the web is as easy as writing for a hardcopy. In fact, there is no such thing as “writing for the web” because it still constitutes to the general idea of writing. Therefore, general rules of writing still apply and the same expectation is expected; to be read.
However, readers have different attitudes when reading online. Others don’t want to read long enough because their eyes hurt, others just want to browse articles to find what they are looking for, and others read contents only if they offer enough information which they could benefit from.
If you want your contents to be read by these readers, you have to meet their attitudes and standards as blogger makes money when readers keep on coming back to your site to find information that only you could offer them in a way not known to others.
So, here are three important elements you should consider when writing:
Clear
Readers should be able to “comprehend” your content in less than ten seconds. I said “comprehend” not “read.”
That’s why you need to make your headlines, subheadings, labels, navigations and links direct and they should communicate to the readers the information you want to share with them.
Generally, your headlines must bear the summary of your contents. If you can do that, people can comprehend what you intend to impart and would surely continue reading until all the questions in their minds would be answered.
One thing very important to make your contents clear is consistency. You need to be straightforward with your points and ideas. Your credibility as an author will be improved if you are consistent until the end of your article.
Persuasive
Anyone can write, express their thoughts and present their ideas. But not everyone is as persuasive as the other.
People would find persuasive articles better all the time, especially if they themselves are persuaded by them. It is because human mind thirsts for knowledge that it needed to be persuaded to be satisfied.
But how can you make your contents persuasive?
It is an advantage if you are taking Search Engine Optimization (SEO) seriously because you know who your readers are; what they are looking for in your website or why they are reading your articles.
So, in order for you to persuade your readers, present them the facts and ideas that could touch their pride and level of intellect. For example, if you have political readers present to them breaking and latest news, if they are technological junkies then present them the latest technological updates. Provide them your contents they way they could possibly remember before they sleep at night.
Concise
One of the most common mistakes of many writers online is that they tend to confuse the word “concise” with “short.” To be concise doesn’t mean to be short. Other writers make their content short to the extent of cutting off the important ideas which would have helped their contents build authority and credibility.
To be concise means to eliminate those flowery or flabby words which other writers use to make their contents long enough to pass the word count requirements.
Being concise is like bringing your passenger to his/her destination in the shortest way possible without comprising his/her safety. So, your contents must express and present the ideas in the fewest words possible without sacrificing their quality; readability, grammar and line of thought.
Never count your words while writing. Just write as many words as you can about the idea you are presenting and edit it when you’re done, eliminating the points without firm relevance to your main topic.
The greatest rule in writing is “to give your readers what they want.” Forget about SEO copywriting, instead focus on writing clear, persuasive and concise contents. If you can do that, for sure search engines will love your contents too as keywords will flow naturally.
Writing is the best way a blogger makes money online. Is this the way you write your contents?
