First Day of School in SiatonSiaton, Negros Oriental—It was almost 7 o’clock in the morning in Siaton when I took a little drive with my motorcycle to breathe the fresh air still filled with morning dew. I noticed that the streets of Siaton was becoming more populated which is unusual since it was still very early and the sun was just about to show its first ray.

As I continued to drive I saw a little child, about 7 or 8 years old, with a backpack, counting the penny in his hand. A delightful smile was showing in his face. Then it crossed to my mind; it was the first day of school in Siaton!

Summer is over! Another school year waits for the hopeful students.

As I drove my way home, the streets of Siaton was so busy with little children, pedicabs and tricycles. Do you know what the beautiful sight I’ve seen that day was? Well, I’ll tell you; children are happy going for school because almost everything they wore was new—new trousers, shirts, ball pen, pencil, notebooks, and bags. These are just some of the few things that will make the children happy during the first day of school.

On the other hand, parents are also happy with the hope that their children will grow up educated and honorable. They are also happy to see those little kids happy during their first day of school and their hopes start there. That’s why the money set aside for household use will be spent to buy school supplies for their children.

I always believe that the children are the future of this world.

I am glad to see that parents in Siaton value the education of their children. At least, as early as now I can see that Siaton will have a better future.

And as I arrived home, I was greeted by the smile and kisses of my little boy!
