A day after the proclamation, Vice President Jejomar Binay shared his thoughts to media about his desire to be the head of DILG. However, it seemed that President Noy-Noy had a lot of options to choose from. For P-Noy, it was really difficult to choose among the many prospects which he openly shared with media. It even led to the disappointment of Binay and led to his request to have his name removed from the list of cabinet members of President Aquino; his request was granted without second thought.

Nine days after Noy-Noy set foot in Malacañang to be the President, he appointed Jesse Robredo to be the DILG secretary. It must have been difficult for him to be the president of the Philippines and at the same time being the DILG secretary.

As what everyone knows about Robredo, he is former Mayor of Naga City and was awarded with Ramon Magsaysay award for government service. This man can really work for the government. Additionally, his credentials are good having a masters degree in Harvard University.

He stands proud to have served six three-year term for Naga from 1988-1998 and 2001-2010. Filipinos obviously approved of him to be the next public servant being the DILG secretary.

Jesse is the nephew of an influential person in Bicol–Luis Robredo Villafuerte. He helped establish governance in Bicol during the presidency of the late President Corazon Aquino. This could be one of the factors which helped P-Noy to decide to let Robredo sit as the head of DILG. If everyone could notice, Aquino appoints people to be a part of his cabinet especially the ones who played roles in helping his mother stand up from the fall caused by Marcos regime.
