I find it useful to run down the top ten most searched topics today basically because a lot of people and blog owners simply want to know what’s happening in the country today. Trending topics are often based on the algorithm of the search engine. More often they are keyword-based but often presented in such a way that people can easily recognize them. So, for today, here’s a list of 10 trending topics in the Philippines.

Top 10. Hating Kapatid – I’m not really sure why it became a trend. Hating Kapatid is actually a 2010 movie starred by Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and Sarah Geronimo. The story revolved around the relationship of two siblings fighting over almost anything.

Top 9. Oyo Sotto and Kristine Hermosa – these people became one of the most searched topics in the internet today after the couple shared with the media how they are enjoying being parents to their firstborn.

Top 8. Britney Spears – she is one of the international artists with huge fanbase in the country. Her recent tweet to guest on “Modern Family” put her on the top ten of the trending topics in the Philippines and the US.

Top 7. Corona Impeachment – what’s new? Chief Justice Renato Corona seemed to have found millions of fans so suddenly. But I’m wondering what people want to know about him. The question is do people search for him because they want to know if he is impeached already?

Top 6. Love Quotes – it’s February and everyone is preparing for the best spiel to say to their loved ones during Valentine’s Day. Love quotes are actually among the most searched topics of all time considering people find love every day.

Top 5. Ronald Llamas – the most controversial of all Aquino’s staffs today. When his SUV found with AK47 few months ago, he also made it to the top three. Now that he was caught on CCTV buying pirated media, he’s made it to top five. He should become the role model for Aquino’s cabinet.

Top 4. Carmina Villaroel – 2012 seems to be a really good year for Carmina; first, she will be replacing KC Concepcion in “The Buzz,” second, she and long-time live-in partner, Zoren Legazpi, may just make it to the church, third, she’s given a chance to interview her ex-husband, the gay Rustom Padilla.

Top 3. 2NE1 – of course, where can Sandara Park go when she’s tired of going on tours? 2NE1 is not here in the Philippines to perform but to have a peaceful vacation. Currently, the group stays in Misibis Bay Resort in Albay.

Top 2. Emma Watson – Harry Potter movie series became hit in the Philippines one after the other, and so are the actors and actress who starred in it. Emma Watson, a self-confessed fashionista, is going to star “Your Voice in my Head” and apparently this makes her on top 2.

Top 1. Grace Lee – when the President of country reveals to the media the girl he is dating, what would you expect? It’s not new in the Philippines. Despite the turmoil in our government today, our President in is “kilig” mode for having dated a beautiful Fil-Korean who also admitted she finds PNoy just the right person for her, hopefully.

There you go! I will be running down the next trending topic tomorrow.

s5233 Star WiFi is a JAVA phone. its not a smartphone, not rnnniug on Symbian OS. i have it for a week, and i was disappointed cuz i like to pimp my nokia phone with symbian apps.. the UI is good and the touchscreen better, but if you’re a multitasker you cant do this on your samsung star.unlike my e65, i can read a book on QReader, if i wanna look up a word, i can open the dictionary and still get back to my reading, and lots of other things like jotting down notes in activenotes, play music on LCG Jukebox, text someone. i can do ALL this SIMULTANEOUSLY on a symbian phone. i feel like im missing out so much with Samsung that’s why im not giving up my e65 yet, its like my pda, cant do that with Samsung Star. and the WiFi is a problem, too. too bad its a gift so i cant sell it to buy another phone.. maybe ill wait for half a year and buy 5530 XpressMusic.
