One of two low pressure areas (LPA) spotted inside the Philippine Area of Responsibility yesterday has turned into a tropical depression around 8:00 a.m. today, July 28, 2012 and was called Bagyong Gener (Tropical Depression Gener). It continues to affect the current weather system in the country resulting to gusty winds and moderate to heavy rainfall.
As of 6:00 p.m. today, Bagyong Gener is located 410 kilometers East, Southeast of Casiguran, Aurora or at coordinates 15.7°N, 126.3°E with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 kilometers per hour near the center. It is forecast to move in North, Northwestward direction with speed of 15 kilometers per hour.
With several days of raining, there could be landslides and flashfloods in some areas in the country especially in localities which are greatly affected by the storm. Currently, there are five provinces put under Public Storm Warning Signal no. 1;

- Batanes group of islands
- Cagayan
- Calayan
- Isabela
